Angela.jpgI have found some of the most amazing collaborators by going to my blog readers first so I wanted to announce here that we are looking for a new addition!!

We are currently interviewing to hire a new client liaison part-time (20-30 hours) in the AAP studio in Louisville. We are looking for someone who wants to be a part of a small family-like group of people. We hope you are excited and passionate, love to meet and talk with people, know your way around a computer (mainly email and scheduling) and are free during the days of the week.

Please forward this on to anyone you know would be a great fit and have them email us at bliss@angela-photo.com with "Client Liaison" in the subject line.

We will be interviewing all through the rest of November (unless we find someone sooner!). It will start as a part-time position but likely bloom into a full-time position in a few months!

Drop us a note soon so we can schedule you for a coffee meeting!!

(P.S. I just feel like we are constantly announcing such wonderful things, don't you?)

Who doesn't love a fabulous sale? I know I do! I have been on the hunt for a great winter coat for weeks now and I was about to give up. I had even shopped my favorite local Louisville stops: Circe, Clodhoppers, Peacock Boutique (love love peacock!). I found a fantastic Milly coat (and Milly is not even my typical style) and a wonderful Loeffler Randall (a favorite artist of mine) but neither fit me! Then we went up to Indianapolis for a few days to a bed and breakfast (I highly recommend Nestle Inn if you are looking for a wonderful, wonderful place to stay outside downtown) to celebrate Gary's 31st birthday (I just celebrated my 30th on the 2nd -- there will likely be a post about this later!). So we went to Saks and Nordstrom and Gary was the only one with any luck. He found a fantastic coat at Frankey's (a boutique in Indianapolis referred to me by my fabulous Indianapolis client, Sarah!). When I would find a coat it was always the wrong size! And then I stumbled upon this fabulous website: Chick Downtown and voila, my favorite Loeffler Randall coat that did not fit, here and in my size --- and 40% off!! Everything on the site is either already marked down or 40% off (I think it ends Monday, but sales or no sales they carry everything!).

My coat:

Alright -- I should mention that this post is also about our sale at AAP! Over the next two months, for the holidays we will be having a few fabulous sales ourselves! The first of which is the GALLERY WRAP CANVAS PRINT SALE. Through November 20th all of the gallery wraps are 20% off! If you have been considering a fanastic 16x24, 16x24, 24x36 triptych above your couch, three fabulous 20x20s in your bathroom (like we have at AAP) or just a gorgeous statement-making 40x60 print (during this sale Gary and I plan to buy at least two 40x60 prints ourselves and many more for our new house!). Now is the time! We are passing on the canvas sale our company is offering us and this only happens once a year!

So drop us a note asap: bliss@angela-photo.com if you would like some advice on what you would want printed, what fits your room design well or anything of that matter!

Angela.jpgAt the end of the last month we did a glam session for two of my current wedding clients. Christie. who was married in July of this year and Lucy, who will be married in July of 2009. Both are great friends and part of the UK dental program. When I told Christie about the glam session idea she was so excited. She asked Lucy to join in and then two of their other friends (including Lucy's sister, Ginny).

The concept behind glam sessions is truly layered. It is an opportunity to do something fabulous for yourself. Take time out and celebrate yourself -- your girly, fantastic self. It is about getting that fantastic dress you wore to that party and looked so amazing in and putting it on again, having your hair and makeup done and then being able to record that. It is something that not only will be fun but will be a keepsake photograph/s that you can show your children and grandchildren! (Yes, your grandmother was this hot!!).

Next, it is truly about relationships. I don't know about you but there are nine women in my life who mean everything to me. A few very close girlfriends, my mother Francine, my sister Cindy and my college-aged neice, Chelsea. These are the women I would love, love to have one of these sessions with. To drink champagne with these women (Chelsea, you will have to drink non-alocholic drinks so I don't get in trouble with Cindy!), to get dolled up, to have photographs taken of these amazing, amazing souls whom I deeply adore would be unbelievable. I owe these women my life and my happiness. They have given me more than I could ever imagine giving them. Plus they are awesome to be around! That is something to celebrate!

So I envision glam session parties are a way to get everyone together, have that fabulous party, get amazing photographs taken of yourself and get wonderful group photos of you and all your girls looking incredible.

...and then drinks? I mean, you *have* to go out that night while you are looking so unbellievable, true? And make it then a night for you and your girls -- one that not only will you remember forever but one where you have professional photographs to remember it by! I love it! I am so excited to be offering this!

More on glam session ideas in my next few posts.

But now on to Lucy. I am photographing Lucy's July wedding in 2009. I know hardly anyone believes she is not a professional model since she is so drop-dead stunning but she is not -- actually she is studying to  be a dentist!

glam_oyler_blog_009.jpgOh and I could not possibly forget. Makeup and hair done by the ever-amazing Ana Crane-Simpson. Unless absolutely impossible Ana does the makeup (and usually hair as well) for all of my Dreaming in the Dark sessions and Glam Sessions!

Ok, so we already posted about this once but we have decided it deserves another post! We are completely in love with Facebook!

Why do we love it? Because it is the most fantastic tool to keep up with current, past and future clients of ours! I always get a little depressed when I don't get to see our clients for awhile so this is a fabulous remedy!

And! So far we have been using it to give away a session or two, give prizes, gift certificates, announce contests and discounts and dates for mini-sessions and to announce the newest, most exciting information (and there are some really good ones coming up). And we plan to do everything via the Facebook Fan page even before the blog!

I am telling you it is a must-do! If you read the blog, have been a client in the past or currently are a client. Join. If you are not a client and don't even know when you will be a client -- join anyway! It is your direct line to the best of AAP!

You don't need a full Facebook profile (and it does not have to be made public or even shared with anyone) to join the fan page. You just need to sign up with an account on Facebook.

Here is the link: Angela Anderson Photography Facebook Fan Page!

And feel free to say hello by starting a "discussion" or making a comment on the page. I cannot wait to meet new people!! And reconnect with old ones!

Here is a screenshot of the Fan Page:

Tony and Markus are getting married in May of next year on a cruise. Since their wedding package comes with a photographer, I was grateful that they found me to do their engagement photographs! They live in Frankfort, but wanted a little more urban look so I found a few spots in Lexington.

Angela.jpgMunfordville, KY. This is where I traveled to take my couple getting married in January's photographs. Elizabeth and Adam's wedding is fast approaching so we got together and braved the cold weather to get some beautiful photographs of their engagement!

Elizabeth just recently graduated from the UK law program and just passed her bar in Tennessee and Kentucky! Both Adam and she will live in Tennessee where the incredibly talented Adam runs a landscaping firm. Elizabeth's parent's house is really gorgeous so we thought it was a perfect location for the photographs.

elizabethadam_blog_001.jpgI love love Elizabeth and Adam. They are soooo cute together. And awesome.

elizabethadam_blog_002.jpg
Did I mention awesome? Can you believe that this is the round barn on the family's property? It was beautiful! I loved the stonework. Of course we had to use it as a backdrop (numerous times!).

elizabethadam_blog_003.jpg
elizabethadam_blog_004.jpg
So it was really cold when we were out. Like the coldest it has been this Fall. Brrrrr. Luckly Elizabeth's amazing mum brought out warm drinks (you know bourbon can keep you warm, right?) and hot tomato basil soup. She was like "I am your assistant today". The soup was really good and definitely warmed me up!!

I am thrilled to announce that we are adding a few new offerings to the AAP repertoire immediately. One of which is the highly anticipated "Glam Sessions" and "Glam Parties". I have been dying to offer these types of sessions for over a year now and I have finally had a moment to breathe and prepare everything. I also recently photographed a glam party that I am so excited to share so be prepared!!

Q. What is a Glam Session or a Glam Party?
A. Glam Session Party: We get so busy with our day to day life that we often forget to take time for ourselves and to spend time with some of our best girlfriends.  Our studio has created an opportunity to do just that- pampering and girlfriend time. We are so excited to unveil "Glam Parties".  This is an excuse to get your best girlfriends together and dress up in your hottest outfit, have your hair and makeup done by a professional makeup artist and have your photos taken by some of the best photographers around. ;)

Doesn't every girl dream of just once pretending like you are in a magazine fashion shoot! I think we all have a part in us that does- In our Glam Sessions each person will be individually photographed for about 45 min to an hour while others are having their hair and makeup done (while chatting and drinking champagne) and then at the end we will shoot the entire group of friends. How often to you get awesome photographs of all your best girlfriends looking their best?

Glam Session: Same concept but a longer session where we concentrate on just you. The session lasts 1.5-2 hours in comparison.

A great way to get fabulous photographs of yourself or a great gift for your significant other! (Think Valentine's Day!)

The website will be up at the beginning of the month but information is available now. Either email us at bliss@angela-photo.com or drop a comment here with your contact info to set the date for your Glam Session!

(More photos coming soon, but a few shots from our recent Glam Session)

Angela.jpgThis month is the month for engagement sessions! Actually we have a lot scheduled in November too --- so both months truly are. Amy also has a number that she has been and will be posting!

Brittany and Joe are getting married this December in their hometown of Booneville, KY. I had a cousin live in Boonville many years ago that I had visited but it had been probably 20 years since I had been in the town. But it was just neat to hear the name of a town in Kentucky that I remember visiting so long ago.

Brittany is an absolute sweetheart. She laughs so easily. She has such a wonderful air about her, she really is a delight to be around. I call Joe the serious type. Quiet, thoughtful. They make a cute couple. I am really looking forward to the wedding day because I just know it is going to be beautiful. Brittany was describing a lot of use of browns and golds. I love that color combination. We don't have long to go before the date will be here!

brittanyjoe_eng_blog_001.jpgWhen Brittany came in to the studio I thought she looked gorgeous. I remember thinking to myself that her makeup looked natural and flawless. I had no idea she had hired my girl, Ana Crane-Simpson, to do her makeup for the engagement session. I did not find that out until the next day when Ana was at my studio for a Glam Session (what are those? You will find out soon enough!!) the following day. Doing a makeup trial on your engagement session day is an excellent idea! Or just having makeup and hair done for your engagement session period is just a great idea.

We took advantage of a downed tree from the recent Louisville Wind Storm. Yes, the same one who blew a tree branch and made big dents on my car hood! It was a bummer for my car (and bank account ;)) but good news for photos!

Angela.jpgPlease give me just a few moments to bask in my own fortitude. I tell every photographer I am friends with that I am -- hands down -- the luckiest gal ever. Why you ask? Because our clients are incredible. They are intelligent, stylish, artistic, funny, gorgeous, oh I could go on and on. They seriously just shine. One of the best decisions I ever made in my business was to limit the number of clients I accepted each season. This has enabled me to get to know my clients even more. Friday I had dinner with Regan and Michael and I just walked away wishing it was already October of 2009! It was so much fun sitting at dinner at Varanese and talking wedding plans and photography. Regan is stunning, smart and knows exactly what she wants. And Michael is such a great fit for her. I cannot wait until their engagement session next year! Jacki Allen is planning their affair (wedding) and by the description it is going to be so unique and beautiful!

But on to the couple in the headline of this post. Amelia and Will!! Amelia and Will are both in law school and will be taking the bar exam not long before the wedding -- so there is lots of hard work ahead of them between planning a wedding and finishing up law school! But I know they will be alright because they are fantastic. Amelia is a power-woman, I am convinced of it. Connected to some many things and such a spirit she will make anything she wants happen -- for certain. And Will. I adore Will! He has such an awesome sense of humor. You will see in the photos below that he knows how to "bring it" for photoshoots! Will just has such an incredible deamanor. What a dream couple! And you should see his fiance's incredible light eyes. They are ravishing (as is she!). I cannot wait for the wedding day. I wish I could make up a thousand excuses for more photoshoots with my couples. Just any reason to hang out with them again would be wonderful for me!

But ... on to the photos ..
