Jessica and Dustin live in Cincinnati and that's where we did their engagement session this summer. You may remember one of my favorites from their session:
jessicadustin_eng_88.jpg
For their wedding, they chose Nashville since Dustin is from Tennessee. I cannot say enough good things about Jessica and Dustin! They are a super awesome couple that you can't help but love! They have such a funky style. Dustin had his suit custom designed and Jessica had an awesome headpiece made for her.

The beautiful and well known Gaylord Opryland Hotel was where everyone stayed and got ready. It is such an amazing hotel with massive Vegas style gardens and waterfalls. Kara Singleton was my assistant and second photographer for the day. We stayed the night of the wedding and got to choose a Trace Adkins wake-up call!

Cedarwood was the amazing site for their ceremony and reception. I had never been to Cedarwood and I was very impressed. I know Jessica and Dustin wanted a southern-style wedding and this was the perfect location! It is a historic mansion that is now used for events and weddings. The staff there were very helpful too!

The ceremony was held outside on the grounds as the sun was setting and was decorated with yellow daisies. The reception was beautifully decorated with arrangements of Gerber daisies and lemons with personalized wine bottles. Guests danced the night away under brown and white japanese lanterns with the band Stretta. Stretta got the crowd excited when they had different guests sing lyrics and Jessica and Dustin center stage belting out 80s tunes. Jessica's dad was asked to be the drummer for a song and the crowed cheered for an encore.

I am so excited to share my longest post ever!! I just couldn't cut any of the photos-- I love them all:

Angela.jpgHere it is! The full post!

Heather came into the studio yesterday to do two sessions. One of which I have been granted permission to blog about now.

I am not photographing Heather's wedding. She had found a photographer (in her wedding location of Illinois) prior to seeing my website. But as soon as she saw the post that I do not have to be your wedding photographer to take your Bridals or Dreaming in the Dark Session she immediately emailed me and we set up a shoot.

The absolutely inimitable Ana Crane-Simpson did the makeup and hair for both shoots. Having Ana be a part of the session is so amazing. It makes an incredible difference in the shoot. Professional hair and makeup are not only a fun way to pamper yourself but also a sound investment in looking amazing! ;)

But without further ado: More photos of Heather!

amy1.jpgAlex and Miah are getting married this weekend and a couple weeks ago we got together to do a really HOT engagement session! They are both glass blowers so we started off the session with them blowing a piece together. Making a beautiful piece of art from basically nothing- very romantic, wouldn't you agree?

amy1.jpgIf you plan to attend the Pink Tie Gala in Lexington Saturday night, September 27, look for a portrait session from me in the silent auction! The Pink Tie Gala is a wonderful event that benefits the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Lexington. This event follows the Race for the Cure Saturday morning and is held at Keeneland.

Breast cancer took my grandmother's life at a young age many years ago and my father and aunt grew up not knowing their mother.

My hope is that one day there will be a cure to this disease.

amy1.jpgWhitney and Mark had a destination wedding and had their reception at Talon Winery in Lexington. You can't go wrong with having an event at Talon. It's a beautiful place to photograph- especially just before sunset. They decorated with a colorful tropical theme including birds of paradise flowers, sand, shells and made palm trees on the tent poles. Whitney and Mark set a relaxed tone for their reception and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Kara Singleton was my second photographer.

Here is another  in the series of little known facts about Angela. I was reminded of it now that most of the city of Louisville is without electric!

My father's side of the family are Amish. My father actually sent me to my aunt's house when I was 14 to spend 2 weeks with the Amish, "roughing it". All I know is we woke up very early, ate cereal with cow's milk and worked long and hard until it was dark. There was one phone but you had to  walk to it. I also wore the Amish clothing for some of  the time I was there and who thought dark blues and blacks covering you head to toe was a good choice for working hard in a field in the summer?? All in all it was a very cool experience.

So I told my husband, Gary, that until the electric comes back on I am just going to have to pull  from my inner-Amish-girl. ;)

(P.S. I wish I knew where that photo of me in Amish clothes was...I would so post it here!)
