amy1.jpgAlex and Miah are amazingly talented glassblowers. You may remember them from their engagement session where I photographed them blowing a piece. They chose the outrageously gorgeous Louisville Palace Theater for their ceremony and reception.  The Palace is extremely ornate, even the ceiling has sculptures- a perfect spot for artists. I had no shortage of spots to photograph wedding details as you will see below.

Alex and Miah and the entire wedding party were so cool and laid back which made for a great night!

Jessica and Dustin live in Cincinnati and that's where we did their engagement session this summer. You may remember one of my favorites from their session:
jessicadustin_eng_88.jpg
For their wedding, they chose Nashville since Dustin is from Tennessee. I cannot say enough good things about Jessica and Dustin! They are a super awesome couple that you can't help but love! They have such a funky style. Dustin had his suit custom designed and Jessica had an awesome headpiece made for her.

The beautiful and well known Gaylord Opryland Hotel was where everyone stayed and got ready. It is such an amazing hotel with massive Vegas style gardens and waterfalls. Kara Singleton was my assistant and second photographer for the day. We stayed the night of the wedding and got to choose a Trace Adkins wake-up call!

Cedarwood was the amazing site for their ceremony and reception. I had never been to Cedarwood and I was very impressed. I know Jessica and Dustin wanted a southern-style wedding and this was the perfect location! It is a historic mansion that is now used for events and weddings. The staff there were very helpful too!

The ceremony was held outside on the grounds as the sun was setting and was decorated with yellow daisies. The reception was beautifully decorated with arrangements of Gerber daisies and lemons with personalized wine bottles. Guests danced the night away under brown and white japanese lanterns with the band Stretta. Stretta got the crowd excited when they had different guests sing lyrics and Jessica and Dustin center stage belting out 80s tunes. Jessica's dad was asked to be the drummer for a song and the crowed cheered for an encore.

I am so excited to share my longest post ever!! I just couldn't cut any of the photos-- I love them all:

amy1.jpgWhitney and Mark had a destination wedding and had their reception at Talon Winery in Lexington. You can't go wrong with having an event at Talon. It's a beautiful place to photograph- especially just before sunset. They decorated with a colorful tropical theme including birds of paradise flowers, sand, shells and made palm trees on the tent poles. Whitney and Mark set a relaxed tone for their reception and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Kara Singleton was my second photographer.

amy1.jpgYou may remember Lori's and Herb from their engagement session photos we did this past summer:
loriherbblog007.jpgThis photo made the cover of their engagement guest book that we designed for them. Their guests went wild over the book at the wedding and loved seeing amazing photos of them.

Lori is so much fun to be around! I had a great time getting to know her and being a part of her wedding.  I think we are a lot alike in that she can be very focused one second and then cracking up laughing the next second. Herb is a former U of L basketball player and stays cool under pressure. However, the softer side was revealed during the ceremony :)

The day of the wedding I got to know more about their family. Her dad played basketball at Western KY,  played in the NBA for several years and then went on to coach college basketball. He told me ESPN did an article on him recently about how he is retired now has a family farm in KY. When Herb was graduating from high school he was a strong recruiting possibility for Lori's dad when he was a coach. He ended up recruiting another player and looking back he said it was meant to be since none of his players were allowed to date his daughter. I thought that story was really neat.

Their wedding was held in Louisville at First Baptist Church Jeffersontown and reception at the Muhammad Ali Center. The Ali Center is a new modern venue in downtown Louisville. Peggy Hankins of PAH Designs was her wedding planner. I had never worked with Peggy before and it was a joy to work with her. She had a team of people there to make sure everything was running smoothly and well organized. Peggy even surprised Lori with a gorgeous dressing table in one of the church rooms when she was getting ready. The table had a huge mirror and flower arrangement and was adorned with framed photos of Lori and Herb's engagement session.

The reception was beautifully decorated. Lori chose a bright green and black for her reception colors (see photo below). The flower and feather vase centerpieces had fish swimming in the base of the vase for added interest. Yancy Entertainment was the DJ and had the party going all night.

Kara Singelton was my wonderful second photographer for the day.

Below are a few of my favorites from the day:

loriherb_wed_002 (1).jpgLori went through so many emotions while getting ready. She even had a little hand held fan that she would use to cool down if she was just about to cry. Lori wanted only her mother and a couple other friends to help her get ready so that her dress would be a surprise to everyone when she walked down the aisle.

loriherb_wed_104.jpgBelow, Lori fought back tears while reading a special card from Herb minutes before the ceremony.

When I first met with Anne last December, we got along so great. I told her I felt like I was talking to a good friend and she said she felt the same. Anne is someone when you talk to her she listens and she is present in the moment. She humbly mentioned that she worked as the entertainment reporter for FOX news in New York. I thought that was awesome because she got to check out the new restaurants in town or interview the stars of the new Broadway show in town. The morning after her wedding, I found the FOX 5 news website and was delighted to discover that I could see her in action with video clips. Anne has a segment called, "Anne About Town," where she goes all over New York to interview people live. Live TV is so challenging and Anne does a fantastic job! I kept browsing around and found all the clips she did about her wedding. She had a salon do her hair different ways and people voted in this clip.
anne's hair.png
She also got advice from Sex in the City stars and Ashton Kutcher recommended a book on relationships in this clip.
Picture 1.png
It is amazing all the stars she has interviewed! She went to London to interview the cast of the Fantastic Four last year. Monday of this week she was interviewing Donald Trump's son Don Jr. about a hotel in Dubai and today she was having breakfast with Jamie Lee Curtis about her 50th birthday. What a life she leads! I was so honored to be chosen as her wedding photographer!

Anne spent many months planning a classic Louisville Kentucky wedding with the assistance of Marcie Hancock of "A Thorough Fare" wedding and event planning. The ceremony was at the Historic Seelbach Hotel in downtown Louisville and reception was going to be on the Belle of Louisville riverboat. As every well planned event can always have last minute changes, there was a major change of plans. Minutes before the ceremony, Anne's father stood in front of all the the excited guests and explained that because of the recent high waters, the barge for the Belle of Louisville had sank and the reception will now be upstairs at the Seelbach. The guests all clapped with support knowing they will all have such a great time no matter where they were. Anne's father waited until after the ceremony to tell Anne and Chris of the change of plans. Behind the scenes Marcie was rearranging all of the vendors. What a miraculous feat to move the band, catering, florist, linens, decorations, etc to another location in a few hours!! Wedding planners are invaluable to have.

Wayne from "In Bloom Again" did the flowers. Masterson's Catering did the food. They had two buffet stations. One was classic Kentucky foods with BBQ sandwiches, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese with Kentucky Mint Juleps to drink. The other buffet was more New York with pastas and meats with "The Big Apple Martinis" to drink. The photo booth was really fun too! Guests got to take their picture with crazy props and boas.

Kitty Maer of Columbus was my second photographer and assistant for this wedding.

Check out the June 9 blog post and you can see the clip of the "Good Day NY" FOX 5 staff reactions to her beautiful photos. Below are more of my favorites-

annechriswedding_013.jpgI can remember Anne asking, "Is it okay for a bride not to have white shoes?" My answer: Absolutely!! The more colorful, the better. I love photographing great shoes. These are Kate Spades.

I know we already had one teaser already with Anne's photos on the FOX News in NY, but I had to share one more before their full wedding post! This is from their photo booth they had at their reception. Everyone loves photo booths at receptions! The guests had so much fun with it and I loved sneaking some fun shots.
