AA-09Watermark-BIG-angela-sm.jpgAngie and John are set to marry this October in Louisville. I am super excited to be their photographer as they were my last accepted couple for the 2009 season! *And* they will be my last wedding in 2009! I think they will be a great couple to sign the season out with! (And then in with 2010!)

Angie is a fabulous hairstylist who owns a salon on Lime Kiln Lane (Fingertips Salon: 502-425-7075). So I think it was super fun for her to be pampered with hair and makeup done by the wonderful Ana Crane-Simpson. Photography means so much to Angie and she recognizes that the effort that she is putting into having an incredible wedding day -- one that she will never forget -- that she may need some assistance in the event being truly unforgettable -- amazing photographic memories. Photographs that instantly take her back to the excitement, the beauty, the inimitable nature of such an event. I mean when you look back in 10-20-30 years I don't think you will be saying, "wow, I wish I would not have spent so much on the photography because now all I have left to remember the wedding day by are these incredibly beautiful artistic memories." ;)

So I thought we would have a little fun with the session. It was so awesome because I had just picked up the fantastic heart sunglasses you see below that day and then Angie comes to the studio in a tank with a super cute heart on it --- meant to be, meant to be! I loved it!

Alright so most of my photo sessions are a lot of fun. Correction, all of them are. I mean, I have really wonderful clients. Now I will admit one little secret. My toughest challenge? The boys! A lot of times guys come into sessions -- especially engagements and wedding day portraits -- with a, shall we say slight disdain, for the experience. Sometimes they are there out of promises/favors (I promise I will attend the next football game if you promise you will have your pictures taken by Angela for 2 hours), sometimes they are there because they know the wedding day calls for the man to do many things that he may or may not have ever considered doing (picking out floral arrangements for 20 tables?), and then sometimes they are awesome and they are just as excited (or close) as my ladies are about getting their photograph taken.

I mean this only happens every once in awhile (although my argument is that it should be way more often then most people think it should be) why not milk it for all you can get?

I was really looking forward to Rachel and Wes' shoot. I had met Rachel at my client's (Amy Anelle!) wedding last June and we had already booked their mutual friend, Ashley's, wedding (Our Amy is Ashley's photographer in November). I will be photographing Rachel and Wes' wedding in Vero Beach. I love love that area of Florida (part of my family is from Melbourne and I spent most of my summers there). I plan to take my little nephew Dzer (Donnie) to Disneyland while we are down there! So he is also excited for Rachel & Wes' wedding! ;)

But I digress, as I was discussing my grooms and how they may find it difficult to have their photos taken. I think this is partially due to the fact that they find it hard to relax and let their guard down, especially in front of a camera. Luckily Wes did not have that issue. Why? Cause Wes is awesome. He has a great sense of humor and he was up for some photos! And who could blame him for being in a good mood, I mean he is marrying Rachel who is absolutely gorgeous, funny and ridiculously fabulous. Any guy who was able to get her would be proud to have his photos taken next to her! :)

So on to my awesome October 10th couple:

rachelwes-eng-blog-01-1.jpgWe started off at a golf course. Wes loves playing golf so it seemed appropriate.

Alright so there is a funny story that goes along with this golf cart. We did not get a golf cart, as we weren't playing any golf. But we thought it would be great for a shot. So Ms. Ana Crane-Simpson (who did the fabulous hair and makeup for Rachel) was bold and went up and asked some golfers if we could borrow their cart. They obliged. Turns out they were high school kids who were just learning to play golf. What was odd was that there was a baby in the back of the golf cart. Not a real one! Turns out they had a plastic baby for a class project but it was in a car seat and everything so it looked a little too real for a second there. Don't worry, no plastic babies in the shot above, we took the child out of the shot. ;)

rachelwes-eng-blog-05.jpgI love this photo. Just love it! ;)

rachelwes-eng-blog-06.jpgSeriously stunning. I mean, wow.

rachelwes-eng-blog-07.jpgOK and I love this one too. They both look so awesome here. Wes seriously GQ might be calling soon. That man can work the face! (Wes don't kill me for saying this stuff!! ;))

rachelwes-eng-blog-08.jpgAgain, those eyes, the beauty, well again just breaktaking!

rachelwes-eng-blog-09.jpgSee what I mean?

Narrowing down to only 13 photos was sooooo hard but I had to save some good ones for their slideshow. Such a great shoot, thank you so much Rachel & Wes!!!

I absolutely love Anna. This was a special session since I have known Anna for a couple of years, she and her sister Susan own Bluegrass Bride in Lexington. So it was especially nice when she asked me to photograph her and Troy for their engagement session!

We started at Anna's farm in Nicholasville, then went to Kenneland, then downtown!

anna&troy_eng_blog_001.jpgI love Corgis and Anna's were so so cute!!

Watermark-AA-MED.jpgI am a huge fan of Jolinda and George. I remember the first time I knew of them -- Jolinda's sister Carol called me on the phone. I instantly adored her -- Carol was so funny and had such a great energy (even just over the phone). She was so excited to be helping to plan her sister's wedding and her excitement was infectious -- I was thinking "fingers-crossed I book this (surely) awesome couple!!"
So Carol was like -- we must have you now and just booked me instantly over the phone. So it was a few weeks before Jolinda and George were to meet with me (they live in Ashland and are very busy professionals!). When we did meet it was wonderful. It was quite an extended meeting because we just kept chatting. George is reserved but has a sly sense of humor. I can absolutely see why Jolinda and he are so amazing together. And Jolinda -- um, gorgeous. And so full of life and love. I cannot wait for their wedding day!

Angela.jpgSo I have known Andrea for a few years -- we first met when she hired me for another photosession about three years ago and then we photographed her cousin's wedding in Knoxville around the same time. So when I found out she was getting married I was so, so ecstatic that she thought of me first!

Andrea and Matt have known each other for, like, ever. They are both from Knoxville but reconnected in Louisville. I am so excited they have found each other again because they are just amazing together. Matt is so sweet (and gorgeous, hello!) and Andrea is just so wonderful, so kind (and yeah, beautiful!). They both make such a stunning couple. It was a lot of fun to photograph them. And thanks to Ana Crane-Simpson for Andrea's fabulous makeup and hair. (Andrea hardly wears any makeup naturally. She stunned us when she said that she never wore eyeshadow -- we were like 'there is a whole world out there that you need to experience!' I love, love eyeshadow!!).

They are set to marry in June in Knoxville. I know it will quite a party! I am so looking forward to it! Until then here are some of their awesome engagement photographs!!

I love putting together slideshows for my clients. I love choosing the photographs, timing it and my favorite part -- the music! Music and photographs go so amazingly well together. So when I was making the slideshow for Dena and Scott's engagement photographs I knew I had to find a great song. And immediately it hit me -- I had been listening last week to the perfect song! "You Picked Me" by A Fine Frenzy. Find the album here at iTunes.

When I read these lyrics and the song is playing I am "blown away" by the beauty of this song. It is absolutely gorgeous. I do hope Dena and Scott enjoyed it! Here are the lyrics from this wonderful song:

"You Picked Me"

One, two, three
Counting out the signs we see
The tall buildings
Fading in the distance
Only dots on a map
Four, five, six
The two of us a perfect fit
You're all mine, all mine

And all I can say
Is you blow me away

Like an apple on a tree
Hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
But you picked me
Like a shell upon a beach
Just another pretty piece
I was difficult to see
But you picked me
Yeah you picked me

So softly
Rain against the windows
And the strong coffee
Warming up my fingers
In this fisherman's house
You got me
Searched the sand
And climbed the tree
And brought me back down

And all I can say
Is you blow me away

Like an apple on a tree
Hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
But you picked me
Like a shell upon a beach
Just another pretty piece
I was difficult to see
But you picked me
Yeah you picked me

And here are some photographs from their session:
