So Rachel and Wes's wedding was in Vero Beach, Florida, which is absolutely gorgeous and it was especially this October! I spent much of my adolescence visiting a town about 45 minutes from Vero so I happened to be quite familiar with the area and so it was even more fun to be back in Florida.
Even more so because it was the wedding of Rachel and Wes. I love having a smaller number of wedding clients now. Back when I used to photograph 40 weddings a year even though my clients were really wonderful in their own right I just never felt like I got to know them as well as I wanted to. Now I feel like I have so much more time to get to know my clients.
Now it is no lie that if you can "get the guy" you've got the shoot. At least with couples that's the trick. A lot of times the gentlemen don't really look forward to having their photograph taken. Sometimes I know there is even a little bit of bribing involved on the part of his lady. But if the guy isn't into it, at least a little, then you just won't have as much fun and honestly having your photograph taken should be FUN. Fun and exciting! Now I already felt that Rachel was into the session but the trick was Wes. Wes's first impression is very serious and I have to admit I thought "oh no! This one is going to be tricky!" But even though his first impression is somewhat intense and quiet Wes has an AWESOME personality. He's quick to joke and to laugh. We had a similar humor so we got along fantastically. I remember him asking me how long the session would take, since his friend Carter (Amy's client) had just done a session and told him it lasted 45 minutes (they had a mini-session sans hair and makeup by Ana). When I told him probably 4 hours I think he got a little scared. But it did not take long before Wes was rocking the shoot. Time flew, they looked amazing (Rachel is so stunning, it just isn't right) and they got into it. And I love the photos from the session!
So when their wedding day approached I realized how excited I was to photograph them again -- and really just to be in their charismatic company. And it didn't hurt that the venue was incredible, their family is so welcoming and wonderful and their friends -- well I know so many of them because I or Amy have photographed them already!

Look at the incredible hotel and location. Absolutely gorgeous.

Love the something blue shoes!

Absolutely perfect weather.

Rachel and her bridesmaid, Amy! I photographed Amy's wedding nearly a year and a half ago. You may find that she looks familiar, she is the bride in the cowboy boots at the open slideshow to the website!

And Ashley, she has been on the blog as well. Amy photographed her engagements awhile back and her wedding day is nearly here!

Seriously stunning bridal party. I mean, wow.

Above was the gifts to the wedding guests. The Vero Beach towel was such a thoughtful take away and memento. The cards (and every paper associated with the wedding) was done by a really talented letterpress in Lexington (he does all of our paper as well, email us if you want his info)
